(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 25, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- A community notification meeting, which will look at allowing a registered sex offender, Chris Poad, to move to Dekorra, will be held Wednesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Poynette Village Hall. The meeting will help provide information to interested public on the community notification law, why Poad is on the sex offender list and his supervised release.
In 1981, Poad was convicted of second-degree sexual assault, and in 1998, he was convicted of the same crime along with fourth-degree sexual assault. In 2012, Pad was given a conditional, supervised, release to reside in the city of Portage, but Poad is planning on moving to the town of Dekorra.
The information bulletin notes that Poad has served his court appointed system is a lifetime registrant of the sex offender registration program of the state of Wisconsin. He will be on GPS monitoring so appropriate law enforcement and parole officers can monitor his location at all times.
The bulletin also says that Poads criminal history places him in a classification that reflects the potential to recommit the same offenses. However, law enforcement stresses that citizen abuse of any kind against Poad will not be tolerated, as the notification meeting is to keep citizens aware and and safe.
Detective Lt. Roger Brander encourages citizens to attend the informational meeting to learn more about notification laws and what can be done to prevent registered sex offenders from re-offending. According to Brander, its a great way to help get citizens involved in public safety.
